How to hide personal information in a screenshot

Keep the part that explains your question. Cover the details that identify you or someone else, then inspect the downloaded copy before sending it.

Start with the audience

A public post needs less identifying detail than a private support request. Ask what the reader actually needs: an error message, an item description or a delivery status may be enough.

Review the whole image

• Names, profile photos, usernames and signatures.
• Home and delivery addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.
• Birth dates, account numbers, government IDs and medical information.
• Passwords, recovery codes, API keys, QR codes and barcodes.
• Browser tabs, address bars, notifications and background windows.

Cover, export, inspect

1. Open a JPG or PNG in the checker. Text suggestions are a starting point; they can miss details.
2. Select a highlighted area and use ✓ to apply or × to dismiss. Draw manual masks over missed text, faces and codes.
3. Extend each solid mask past every character and check repeated occurrences.
4. Review the export and download the PNG. Open that file and zoom in before sharing it.

For example, a fictional delivery screenshot can retain “Delayed” and the product name while hiding the recipient, address and tracking link. Share the exported copy rather than the original or an editor screenshot.
