What to remove from an order-confirmation screenshot
For a public post, an item description and order status are often enough. An order confirmation can also expose where you live, how to contact you and links into your order.
Cover these details
- Recipient name and every line of billing and shipping addresses.
- Email, phone number and delivery instructions, including access codes.
- Order, invoice and tracking numbers, plus tracking links.
- Payment details, account references and any remaining card digits you do not need to show.
- QR codes, barcodes, gift-card codes and redemption links.
- Other people’s names, saved addresses and account-menu details.
Keep only the context needed
For a fictional damaged-mug complaint, you might keep the mug description and delivery status. Hide the address and order reference in a public post. If verified merchant support needs the reference, provide it through their official private channel.
Prices, purchase dates and product choices can be personal too. Keep them only when they help explain the issue.
Check before sending
- Read the header, footer and all address continuation lines.
- Cover both the printed tracking value and its scannable code.
- Inspect the exported PNG at a readable size and confirm that no characters extend outside the masks.
See the worked address example for a multiline address.
Before posting an order screenshot, open it in the free checker and review the suggested areas plus any tracking codes manually.
